Lori Krauss, MSW, LCSW

About Lori

Lori Krauss (she/her) has been working with children, adolescents, and parents in a variety of professional settings within Wake County since 1993 as a teacher, an early childhood consultant and a family interventionist. She has been working as a psychotherapist since 2008 and has provided direct therapy with children/adolescents. Her expertise in child development and brain science, along with her vast experience interacting with children, adolescents, and families allows Lori to assist parents in understanding their child’s emotional needs/behaviors and supporting their treatment goals. Parenting is the toughest job one will ever do but having the knowledge and the tools needed to navigate that journey is a step in the best direction for your family. Most parents have learned to parent from their own childhood experience or are still using outdated methods. Children don’t come with a parenting manual at birth and many times the healthy support needed doesn’t exist especially when your child is experiencing a mental health diagnosis or a challenging or traumatic life experience. Parents are needing to nurture their own self-care which often goes to the bottom of the list.

Lori offers great compassion being a parent and grandparent herself. She will provide a safe space of non-judgement to listen, to acknowledge the difficulties, as well as teach strategies and bring awareness to the possibilities of healthier connections and positive emotional health.

Lori has specific interests in emotional regulation, AD/HD, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and effective co-parenting.

Treatment Philosophy

Lori uses a combination of a family systems approach, a strong foundation in child/adolescent development, conscious parenting, mindfulness support, emotional regulation skill building, cognitive behavioral therapy, and strengthening parent communication.
